fitness & friends GmbH successfully acquired by Sports Club Group
fitness & friends GmbH operates a 5,000m2 studio including a 6-lane sports pool and wellness area in Hamburg’s Wandsbek district. The 3,200 members – supervised by 35 employees – are offered, in addition to the more than 130 weekly courses, a cold chamber for accelerated regeneration and modern electronic muscle stimulation equipment.
Due to the loss of members during the COVID-19 pandemic and the drastic increase in energy costs, the company had to file for insolvency at the Hamburg District Court in September 2022.
Centuros exclusively supported the insolvency administrator Peter-Alexander Borchardt (Reimer Rechtsanwälte) in the investor process as part of an M&A process.
The Sports Club Group, operator of twelve other fitness studios with 33,000 members in five German states, is taking over the location and business operations of fitness & friends GmbH as part of an asset deal. The successful takeover, which concludes a challenging search for investors – due to the hard-hit fitness industry – has allowed the 35 jobs to be retained.
