LIONCARE Wohnen & Pflege GmbH successfully rescued – More than 2,000 care places and 650 jobs saved

LIONCARE Wohnen & Pflege GmbH has been providing care products and services since 2021, focusing on outpatient and semi-residential care. With more than 2,000 care places, LIONCARE Wohnen & Pflege is one of the largest private providers on the German care market and operates a network consisting of assisted living in combination with residential communities and day care in the Brandenburg & Saxony-Anhalt region.

In June 2023, LIONCARE Wohnen und Pflege GmbH filed for the opening of insolvency proceedings under self-administration. Lawyer Dr. Florian Linkert from the law firm BBL was appointed as trustee by the Potsdam Local Court. Lawyer Dr. Kristof Biehl and his colleagues from the Biehl law firm were responsible for the legal aspects of the self-administration.

The insolvency proceedings have now been successfully concluded with the acceptance of the insolvency plan by the creditors. The company shares were acquired by the strategic investor kenbi GmbH. As a result of the merger of the two companies, the total number of care places has increased to around 4,000 places in five federal states.
