Ploß & Co. GmbH taken over by listed BHG Group – All jobs saved

Over the course of its 25-year history, the Ploß & Co. GmbH has developed into a market leader in the manufacturing and import of garden furniture made of teak, polyrattan wicker, stainless steel and acacia. The company is based in Barsbüttel, Schleswig-Holstein, where it operates a warehouse outlet. In addition, the products are marketed through its own online store. The company employs approximately 35 people.

In December 2021, the management of Ploß & Co. GmbH filed an application for the opening of preliminary insolvency proceedings at Reinbek Local Court. The causes of insolvency include the sharp rise in sea freight prices and the sudden increase in liquidity requirements due to growth. Peter-Alexander Borchardt (Reimer Rechtsanwälte) was appointed as provisional insolvency administrator by the Reinbek District Court.

The common goal of the preliminary insolvency administration and the management was a speedy and complete restructuring of the business of Ploß & Co. GmbH. In order to secure the future also in the long term, Ploß was to be sold within the framework of an M&A process. The main objectives of the transaction were to preserve the business operations and jobs. Centuros Consult GmbH was exclusively appointed by the management of Ploß & Co. GmbH and the preliminary insolvency administration as M&A advisor.

In April 2022, the listed BHG Group, headquartered in Sweden, in an asset deal, acquired the assets of Ploß & Co. GmbH were taken over. All jobs were taken over as part of the transaction. We are pleased to have supported Ploß & Co. GmbH and Reimer in their search for investors and wish the new Ploß Europe GmbH and the BHG-Group every success in the future.
