Bree Collection manages the turnaround

The Bree Collection GmbH („Bree“) was founded in 1970 by Peter Bree in Isernhagen. The traditional premium manufacturer of bags & accessories with 31 branches in Germany, Austria and Switzerland filed for insolvency under self-administration at the Hamburg District Court in May 2019. The Portuguese automotive supplier and leather specialist Coindu will carry on the Bree company so that the insolvency plan procedure can be completed by the end of November 2019.

With the insolvency administrator Stefen Denkhaus from BRL, accompanied by Jan Ockelmann from Schneider Geiwitz Nord and Centuros, Bree had an interdisciplinary team at its disposal. Centuros supported the self-administration and later the insolvency administrator in the search for investors. During the self-administration, Centuros was able to convince a variety of potential investors both in Germany and abroad of Bree. As a result,  numerous interesting offers could already be presented at the start of the standard insolvency proceedings.

The premium handbag manufacturer Bree encompassing around 150 employees becomes part of the Coindu Group. Coindu manufactures leather covers for car seats and supplies leading European automotive companies and car seat manufacturers. The company currently employs around 6,000 people with a turnover of around 348 million euros.

Coindu will continue to run Bree as an independent subsidiary and, together with the new CEO Heidi Otto, will continue the success story of the Bree brand and will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year.

We are pleased that we were able to support BREE, BRL and Schneider Geiwitz with the continuation of operations and the search for investors and wish Coindu and the BREE workforce all the best for the future.
